Valentine

Valentine is a shy, submissive, and sweet 5-7 year old, 23 lb Shetland Sheepdog who was rescued from a puppy mill. She spent her entire life in a small, concrete pen and is now learning what it's like to be a dog. Initially, she would walk in circles for hours, overwhelmed by fear when people entered the room. Thankfully, in foster care, she's blossoming! She thrives with the company of confident dogs who show her the way, even engaging in zoomies and play bows. She is crate trained, housebroken, and generally easy to handle for grooming and vet visits. Valentine is good with other dogs, both male and female, and ignores cats.

Ideal Home

Valentine is a work in progress and needs a patient adopter who can invest the time she needs to shine. She would do best in a mature, quiet home without young children, as the excitement of a home with kids might overwhelm her.

Ongoing Health

Valentine needed a full dental during her spay, with 5 teeth extracted due to rot. Her coat requires ongoing maintenance and is quite full.

Training & Support

Valentine is very food-driven and can be a bit too enthusiastic when taking treats, sometimes biting fingers hard. She needs to learn to take treats more gently.

Transportation

Valentine is currently in Austin, Tx. We do accept out-of-state applications, and adopters are responsible for transport expenses. We adopt to the US (including Hawaii) and Canada.
