About MOCHI

Cricket and Mochi have overcome so much and are finally ready for a forever home—together. Sweet, gentle, and full of love. They are a bonded pair, currently fostered in Evans, GA.

Some dogs come into rescue with a story... Cricket and Mochi came with a whole chapter book. These two resilient girls were part of a heartbreaking surrender of 10 dogs to a small rural Texas shelter when their owner entered a nursing home. Project Freedom Ride was honored to help bring every dog to safety—but Cricket and Mochi needed more than rescue... they needed healing. After multiple surgeries, dentals, and lots of TLC, these brave little ladies are now healthy, comfortable, and ready for their forever home—together. Always together.

Meet Mochi: 7+ years old, 14 lbs, Wire-Haired Terrier Mix. Mochi may have a permanently grumpy little face, but underneath that is a calm, affectionate cuddle bug. She's the confident half of this duo and quietly watches over Cricket. Mochi had several masses removed—all benign—and while she may develop more in the future, she is currently happy and feeling great. She also has a heart murmur and although on medication is asymptomatic. Mochis Highlights include being calm, affectionate, and loyal, confident and easygoing, loving frozen Kongs, and being great on leash.

Meet Cricket: 8+ years old, 13 lbs, Chihuahua. Cricket is a gentle, sensitive soul who has overcome so much. She arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye—both now successfully treated. Today, she's finally living pain-free. She's shy at first, but once she trusts you, she melts into soft affection and belly rubs. Cricket leans on Mochi for confidence, and their bond is truly something special, which is why we are adopting them as a bonded pair. Crickets Highlights include being sweet, gentle, and loving, gaining confidence from Mochi, loving bully sticks, and preferring shredded chicken mixed with kibble.

Ideal Home

These girls are looking for a calm, stable home where they can continue to thrive together. They require a fenced yard, and no apartments as Cricket is still building leash confidence. Ideally, they would not be placed in a home with small children. They are dog-friendly and prefer calm, respectful dogs. They are 90% housebroken (Mochi seems to be slower to catch on) and are crate trained.

Ongoing Health

She also has a heart murmur and although on medication is asymptomatic. Cricket arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye—both now successfully treated and she is living pain-free.
