Buddy Edward is a middle-aged dude with a bit of a "beer gut" that we're working on! He's the happiest, and let's be honest, a bit of a roly-poly Shih Tzu around. He snorts like a bulldog and has a delightful waddle that just melts your heart. When he came to us, he weighed 18 lbs, and while our vet says his bloodwork looks great, his weight is a concern and obesity can lead to health problems down the road. His foster family has him on a special diet, with specially portioned kibble served just once a day to help him slim down.
Buddy has beautiful curly white and tan fur. He had some bald spots due to skin infections, but thankfully, they've grown back in beautifully. Because of his breed, he'll require regular, extensive grooming, including frequent trips to the salon, in addition to his exercise routine.
Ideal Home
Buddy gets along well with cats, small dogs, and big dogs, so he could fit into a variety of households. He absolutely adores attention and loves nothing more than to snuggle up on his foster mom's lap.
Ongoing Health
Buddy's bloodwork is great, but his weight is a concern. His vet has recommended a diet and special kibble to help him reach a healthier weight, as obesity can cause future health issues.
Training & Support
Buddy is already leash-trained and potty-trained, which are fantastic starting points! He also loves car rides and is ready for any adventure you can take him on. He came to us with his two dog siblings after his elderly owners could no longer care for them. The Animal Control Officer contacted us for help, as the dogs were neglected, dirty, and not house-trained. They were clearly loved, but the owners began to struggle to care for themselves and their pets. Buddy has shown more progress in housetraining than his younger dog friends.
Buddy is up to date on vaccines, has been dewormed, is microchipped, and has been neutered. He tested negative for heartworms and is on prevention.
