Vaquero is a charming 5-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix, weighing in at a healthy 46 lbs. He was found in a difficult situation in Edinburg, near the Texas/Mexico border, suffering from severe mange and malnourishment. Thankfully, Vaquero has made a remarkable recovery and is now a completely different dog! This once timid pup has blossomed into a friendly and affectionate companion who thrives on human interaction and love.
Ideal Home
Vaquero would be a wonderful addition to a home with older, gentle children. He enjoys playtime but is also a master of relaxation, perfectly content to chill out and enjoy a quiet evening. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and has also shown to be fine with kitties.
Ongoing Health
Vaquero has no long-term health effects from his past ordeal. He is fixed, heartworm negative, up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped, and current on dewormer. He will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
Training & Support
Vaquero is house-trained and a true "Netflix and chill" kind of dog. He loves treats, naps, and gazing out the window during car rides.

Transporation
Vaquero is currently located in Texas. We do not adopt animals within Texas due to the high euthanasia rates. We exclusively adopt to the Central US and the East Coast. The adoption fee of $395 includes transport from Texas to the following locations every 2-3 weeks (locations may vary based on adopter demand):
- Albany and Latham, NY
- Wells and Brattleboro, VT
- Willington, New Haven and Dayville, CT
- Port Chester, NY
- Dayton and Akron, OH
- Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA
- Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ
