Meet Penny, a bright-eyed, 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix with a heart full of love and a spirit ready for adventure! Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who absolutely thrives when she's active, engaged, and close to her favorite humans. She's curious, social, and always looking for her next exciting escapade, or a cozy cuddle session.
Penny is a sensitive soul who has likely experienced past trauma, as she flinches easily and needs reassurance and calm, consistent care. She is incredibly affectionate and emotionally attuned to her people, giving love back tenfold once she feels safe and understood. She's a smart, snuggly, and slightly goofy sidekick who just wants to be loved and understood.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy in positive ways. A home without cats is recommended due to her prey-driven behavior outdoors. She enjoys the company of canine friends who match her playful energy and size, preferably confident, medium-to-large dogs who are comfortable setting healthy boundaries. She thrives when given structure and guidance.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and learning to be more comfortable with separation. She has not yet been crate trained and prefers to be near her people, sometimes whining or barking when separated. She can be trusted loose in the house when items are put away, but enjoys chewing on dog beds when bored. She can be protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, so mealtime and treat-giving are managed separately, which has shown great progress. Leash walks are a favorite, and she settles with guidance. She needs consistent mental and physical outlets for her energy.
