About Holly The Best Family Dog

Holly could happily claim the titles of Professional Toy Collector, Zoomie Specialist, and Booty-Scratch Enthusiast. If you asked her about her hobbies, she’d enthusiastically say "foodie!" and we couldn't agree more. She’s described as having the kind of happy energy that brightens every day and brings smiles to everyone she meets. She's pure sunshine with a playful hop, a lover of toys, a giggle-generator, and a girl who adores kids and loves a good belly flop!

Holly is estimated to be just shy of 4 years old, weighs 60 lbs, and is likely a pittie/staffie mix. She's a dog that truly lights up for people with her wiggly and affectionate nature. She's also quite smart and has a solid head start on commands like "sit" and "come," and even knows "drop it" (which is quite impressive for a dog who sees toys as a way of life).

In the evenings, Holly naturally winds down and enjoys joining her family on the couch to watch TV. She loves to be close to her people, whether resting beside them or leaning in for cuddles. She doesn't demand attention but simply enjoys being included, often bouncing from person to person to see who's available for some affection.

Holly lives harmoniously in a busy household with four children (ages 3, 5, 12, and 14) and is wonderful with all of them. She also shows incredible patience and acceptance towards a 17-year-old with special needs, handling energy, movement, and louder sounds with ease. She often approaches this family member to give gentle kisses. Holly's adaptability to various environments is one of her most cherished traits. She fits seamlessly into daily life, whether playing fetch, learning new commands, or simply lounging with the kids. She is also very welcoming to visitors, never barking when people enter her home and settling quickly.

Holly is crate-trained and happily goes into her crate when asked. She's a fantastic car rider and handles routine changes well, making her an easy companion for everyday adventures. Food is definitely a highlight for Holly, and she takes treats very gently. She's happy to supervise in the kitchen and will happily "sit" or step out as requested.

When it comes to other dogs, Holly is social and confident. She's currently fostered with a small male terrier mix and an older, more dominant female dog, and she's mindful and respectful of their space. Holly would also love a playful canine friend. She thrives in playgroups and has a bouncy, happy, and rowdy play style. Her reliability makes her a valuable assessor for new dogs joining the rescue. If she joins a home with another dog, she'll bring the fun, as long as her new buddy enjoys energetic play!

Holly's love for toys is boundless, and she'll happily accept any type, from balls and stuffies to squeaky toys and sticks. She has a signature "happy-flop" move on sunny days where she'll fetch a toy, drop it like it's precious cargo, and then roll all over it in the grass with a big, happy smile.

She has a solid head start on basic commands and good leash manners, described as a sturdy walker who respects her handler when expectations are clear. Holly is truly special in how easy she is to live with, settling in quickly, enjoying routine, and genuinely wanting to be part of a family.
