Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix whose spirit shines through, despite a difficult start in life. Rescued as part of a neglect case, she weighed only 18 lbs at six months old. It took time and patience for her to learn that a gentle touch meant love. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl, ready to shower her forever family with the safety and devotion she so deserves. She's outgoing, smart, and loves car rides, heavy chew toys, and simply being near her people. When meeting new people, she might be a bit shy at first, but she quickly warms up and thrives on attention once she feels secure. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience, a loving companion who greets each day with joy and trust.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae absolutely adores children of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. She can be a bit bossy during play with other dogs and benefits from slow introductions, but she has interacted well with dogs ranging from 35-70 lbs and does best with balanced or confident dogs who can match her enthusiasm. She doesn't require another dog in the home and would do wonderfully as an only pet. If placed with another dog, slow introductions are essential, and she'd do best with a calm, confident companion. She eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe due to past food insecurity, and she prefers a calm environment where she can unwind during mealtime.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive in foster care. She does have slightly runny eyes, which are suspected to be due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy seasons. This doesn't require treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes.
Training & Support
Daisy Mae is fully house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. She is great on leash and enjoys walks, playtime, and exploring, but she also knows how to relax. Because of her past experiences, she needs time to trust and understand that she is safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she is eating, but she has never shown guarding behavior towards people.
