About Bunny

Meet Bunny: A Brave Little Survivor Ready for Love. Bunny is a 2-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua and Dachshund mix with a story that will tug at your heart. She was discovered tethered in the backyard of an abandoned home, left behind when her family moved out. For three long weeks, Bunny survived alone, emaciated and terrified. A medical exam revealed over a dozen fractured ribs. Abuse is suspected. Bunny is a bouncing, curious, and busy girl! Due to some early neurological trauma damage, she has extremely heightened senses and is usually on the prowl investigating quick movements, light flashes, shadows, dust particles floating by, new sounds, and interesting smells. Right now, we would love to get Bunny into a quiet home for (at least) one week. She has spent the last year in foster with 8 other older small dogs and a cat, and we know that this is not the right living situation for her. She has exhibited some limited but unwelcome and mostly harmless resource guarding of toys and food. We think she will thrive in a quiet home with no other animals, and want to give her that chance. Can you help us find out what Bunny's life might look like in a quiet home with a devoted guardian? Is she a candidate for adoption?

Ideal Home

Bunny would thrive in a quiet home with no other animals.

Ongoing Health

Bunny is currently taking medication twice each day, and sometimes that is a challenge. Her ideal long or short-term guardian is someone who is extremely patient and compassionate with the ability to gently but forcefully pill her when she decides "no way, this food feels funny." Bunny’s $225 adoption fee includes spaying, vaccines, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.

Training & Support

Bunny has exhibited some limited but unwelcome and mostly harmless resource guarding of toys and food.
