Penny

Penny is an adorable and loving young adult shepherd mix with a heart full of cuddles and a brain full of smarts! She's a quick learner who enjoys pleasing her people and will happily snuggle up on laps or in arms. Penny has mastered the doggy door and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, especially her foster brother Rocky, and she's also good with cats.

Ideal Home

Penny would thrive in a home where she can continue to be a loved member of the family. Because of her medical condition, she will always need to be supervised to ensure she doesn't ingest anything from the floor that could be a choking hazard.

Ongoing Health

Penny has been diagnosed with megaesophagus, a condition that requires special feeding. She eats her meals in a specialized "Bailey Chair" and must rest in it for 20 minutes afterward. She will need ongoing monitoring to prevent choking hazards. Additionally, Penny is under the care of an ophthalmologist for an ongoing issue with her eyes. She is gradually losing sight in both eyes and will eventually become blind. Despite this, her current limited vision does not hinder her playful spirit, as she still loves to chase and retrieve balls.

Penny is a very smart girl who learns quickly and is eager to please. She is open to all the ways we help her manage her medical needs.
