Meet Aspen (ACCT-A-253125)! This sweet and sensitive soul is looking for a patient home where she can truly blossom. While she might start off a little shy-checking to make sure you're still there as she explores-it doesn't take long for her affectionate nature to shine through. Aspen is a total lean-in dog; she loves being petted and will even give your hand a gentle nudge to remind you to keep the scratches coming!

She is a smart girl who already knows "sit" and is very motivated by treats. Since she can be a little enthusiastic when taking snacks, she'd appreciate it if you offered them on an open palm. On her walks, she is easy to leash and walks politely, occasionally giving a moderate pull when she's first heading out to see the world.

Aspen has also spent some time in playgroups with other dogs. She tends to be a bit of a wallflower, preferring to mingle and do her own thing rather than engage in rough-and-tumble play. She is very good at communicating her boundaries when she needs a little personal space, making her a polite companion for other low-key dogs.

Behavioral Notes per volunteer 6/25: Aspen is a little dream boat! She is a super easy, laid back, adaptable dog who is loving and affectionate towards people. She also seems very even keeled and friendly with other dogs and animals. She doesn't pull on the leash and is easy to handle. She wasn't too fixated on a penned rooster and was happy to look and then walk away. Anyone would be very lucky to adopt her.

06/19/2026 per staff behavioral eval: Kennel Presentation: At the front of her kennel, ears back, soft eyes, loose body. Took a treat a little snatchy through the bars.

Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out. Walked pulling moderately on the way out, once outside pulled lightly, low loose tail, ears to the side.

Sociability: Came over when called with low tail wags, ears back, soft eyes. Allowed all handling with a low tail, ears back, soft eyes, would nudge my hand when I stopped petting her. Knows sit and took treats a little snatchy so open palm is best.

Play: Picked up the toy in the yard that I tossed for a second then dropped it and returned to me.

Dog Interaction: n/a

Return to Kennel: Walked back pulling lightly with the same body language as walking out. Went right into kennel and leash was removed easily.

Color Level: Gold

06/17/2026 Playgroup: Steerable 4/5 with water and 1/5 with can. Tail low, ears back when greeting other dogs. Mingling around the yard. Corrected Blanko for space with an air snap.

06/16/2026 per staff: Initially whined and slowly walked away from me, turning back to check if I was still there. Went into a corner of yard and shut down allowed me to leash her. Walked well on leash. Was hesitant to get in truck but allowed me to lift her
