Chester

Chester hasn't lived the life he was born to live. Instead, he endured a life of neglect, barely surviving outdoors in someone's backyard, exposed to wind, heat, cold, and storms. Flies even feasted on his ears and face while he waited. When I met Chester at the shelter, he wasn't barking or jumping up; he was quietly sitting in the corner, not expecting anyone to pay attention to him, having seemingly made peace with his circumstances. I couldn't let that be his only experience, so I promised him a better life, one where someone would appreciate such a beautiful and kind soul! He was a little unsure getting into my car but sat quietly the whole drive home. He was a bit nervous getting out, but a walk on the ranch showed he walks nicely right beside you. I made him a bed in his kennel, showed him the doggy door, and gave him food. I'm telling you this because I've never met a dog so grateful for simple comforts like air conditioning, a soft bed, and food. Chester is incredibly sweet and thankful, but I know an even better place awaits him where he can learn what love truly is.

Ideal Home

Chester would do well in a home with other dogs, provided they are respectful. He gets along well and is not aggressive, but he can be easily intimidated by loud or boisterous dogs. He prefers a calm lifestyle, with exercise being secondary to quiet time and sniffing around the yard.

Ongoing Health

Training & Support

Chester is fantastic at using a doggy door and has become comfortable getting in and out of the car. He would benefit from a calm environment where he can continue to learn and experience love.
