Diesel is a sweet 3-year-old, large, Great Pyrenees and Cane Corso mix who came to us as a stray facing euthanasia at an animal control facility. Despite his unknown past, Diesel has a heart of gold and loves to roll over for tummy scratches, play fetch, and snuggle up with his favorite people! He also enjoys spending time outdoors in a secure yard. He's proven to be a master escape artist in less than ideal fencing, but he does well in a 6-foot fenced yard with no attempts to dig or escape. While he's not a fan of crates, he's comfortable in an outdoor-style dog kennel. Diesel is actively working on his leash-walking skills, as he can get a bit overexcited when he sees other dogs.
Ideal Home
Diesel has done well meeting new people and older children. However, due to his size and playful nature, homes with small, younger children are not recommended. He has met a cat, and while it's possible, slow introductions and supervision are advised for any resident cat to ensure a harmonious living situation. Diesel is also selective with other dogs. He has done well with dogs over 40 lbs and has enjoyed the company of some dogs while not getting along with others. A meet-and-greet with any resident dogs in your home is a must.
Ongoing Health
Diesel is fully vetted, including being neutered, vaccinated for rabies and DHPP, tested for 4DX, microchipped with lifetime registration, dewormed, and is up-to-date on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Diesel is working on his leash manners, particularly when encountering other dogs. Patience and continued positive reinforcement will help him succeed.
