Meet Meatball! This 63-lb land hippo is a professional splooter, enthusiastic bird watcher, and full-time lover boy. If you're a human, you're automatically one of his favorite people, and you'll be smothered in kisses. Meatball is one of the sweetest dogs, eager to be involved in everything you do. He'll follow you from room to room, flop dramatically next to you for naps, and greet you with the excitement of a long-lost friend, even if you just took out the trash. When he's excited, he grabs a toy and wiggles with joy – it's the cutest thing!

Meatball has made incredible progress in foster care, shedding 10 lbs and now weighing in at a healthy 63 lbs. He's quiet and well-behaved in his crate when left alone and thrives with a good routine. He's become a cozy, lazy boy at home, is fully housetrained, and will let you know when he needs to go out – he's all about open communication! He loves sleeping in, dreams vividly (lots of twitching and little woofs!), and is always ready for a couch nap.

He absolutely LOVES walks and car rides! Walks are a highlight of his day, and he puts those quarterback shoulders to work. Be prepared if you want to walk Meatball or if you want Meatball to walk you! He is very passionate about chasing birds, squirrels, and rabbits, which keeps things entertaining. Car rides make him lose his mind in the best way possible; he rolls around in the backseat like he's won the lottery. He already knows "sit," "touch," and "paw," and with his food motivation and eagerness to learn, he's ready for more training. He's incredibly affectionate and people-oriented, genuinely wanting love and attention all the time.

A few honest Meatball facts: Soft toys don't stand a chance against him, but he's happy with his collection of hard toys and especially loves his Kong filled with frozen peanut butter! He occasionally picks up random things like socks or trash, but he easily lets them be taken away with zero issues. He doesn't have a possessive or mean bone in his body, and you can even stick your hand in his mouth. He can be a little dramatic sometimes, barking for attention or taking his neighborhood watch duty too seriously, but that's part of his charm. Meatball is a giant sweet baby who wants a family to love him as much as he'll love them. He has a hilarious personality, the biggest heart, and so much love to give. If you want a goofy, cuddly best friend who will make you laugh every day and worship the ground you walk on, Meatball is your boy!

Ideal Home

Meatball would thrive in a home where he can be involved in your daily activities and receive plenty of love and attention. Be prepared for enthusiastic greetings and a loyal companion who loves to nap.

Ongoing Health

Meatball has successfully lost 10 lbs and is now at a healthy 63 lbs. He is microchipped, which is a permanent form of identification. Animals must still have a collar with tags on at all times.

Training & Support

Meatball is eager to please and food-motivated, knowing "sit," "touch," and "paw." He is fully housetrained and communicates when he needs to go out. He can be a little dramatic with barking for attention and has a strong prey drive, so continued positive reinforcement and management are recommended. He is easily redirected when he picks up random items.
