Eddie is a gentle, sweet, and sensitive young Labrador Mix, approximately 1.5 years old and weighing around 37 lbs. He was found near his rescuer's home with his sister, and though his sister sadly passed away, Eddie was rescued to prevent him from returning to life on the streets. Eddie can be a bit shy and may keep his distance initially, especially with physical contact, but with patience and kindness, he blossoms at his own pace. He enjoys walks, is leash-trained, and can be playful, obedient, and affectionate, offering sweet kisses once he feels safe. He is sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women.
Ideal Home
Eddie would thrive in a calm and understanding environment as he is sensitive to loud noises like fireworks and thunder. He needs a home that understands shy dogs and is willing to give him the time and space he needs to build trust. A home with a fenced backyard is preferred, and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be a great fit. Families with a genuine intention to rescue and an open conscience about the needs and behaviors of street animals are ideal. Experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly recommended, as is high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.
Ongoing Health
Eddie has undergone a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, receiving DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and microchipping. He has also had a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and is on monthly preventive protection (Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm). He comes with a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Eddie is not house-trained, and adopters should understand that rescued pets often require an adjustment period and may have fears or anxieties due to past experiences. Patience and understanding are crucial for building trust and a strong bond. He is described as obedient but may need guidance and support to overcome his shyness and potential behavioral needs.
