Leon

Leon is a loving, intelligent, and obedient 1-year-old Labrador mix who weighs approximately 30 lbs. He was rescued in March 2024 in Saltillo, Mexico, along with his siblings. Leon is an energetic and sociable boy who enjoys playing, going for walks, and receiving affection. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but he quickly warms up and melts into your arms. Leon is friendly with children, other dogs, and cats. He is crate and leash trained.

Ideal Home

Leon would thrive in an active home with a fenced backyard where he can play and explore. He needs a family that enjoys outdoor activities and has an open mind about the needs and behaviors of rescued animals. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, and a high tolerance and patience for rescued pups, will be ideal. Please note, Leon is not house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Leon has completed a comprehensive health protocol. This includes being spayed/neutered, having received 2 DHPPI vaccines, a Rabies vaccine, and a Bordetella vaccine. He has also been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. He is up-to-date on his monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.

Training & Support

Leon is crate and leash trained. However, he is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared to work on this. His rescuers emphasize that rescued animals may not be potty-trained and require dedicated effort.

Transportation

Leon is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transportation to the adopter's home address is available for an additional transport fee.
