Merle Dawson is a 5-year-old, 47lb pittie mix with a stunning merle coat, floppy ears, and captivating heterochromatic eyes – one icy blue, the other caramel brown. He's a walking exclamation point of joy, brimming with an infectious enthusiasm for life and a deep conviction that everyone he meets is his new best friend. Merle's personality shines just as brightly as his unique looks; he's devoted, goofy, and utterly lovable. He's a master of the affectionate lean and truly believes that receiving your attention is the highlight of his day. You'll find yourself saying "I need this dog!" almost immediately after meeting him.
Ideal Home
Merle would thrive in a home with a semi-active family that enjoys including their dog in daily activities, whether that's running errands or simply relaxing together. A home with a big, fenced-in backyard is preferred over an apartment, giving him space to stretch his legs and enjoy sunny days. He's looking for a family to be his constant companion and built-in best friend. While he's been great with children as young as 5 and enjoys their company, Merle's happiest and most relaxed self truly shines when he doesn't have to share his space full-time. Therefore, an only-dog home where he can be the center of attention would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Merle is a rescue dog, and as with any rescue, his exact breed and age are a mystery. He has received all necessary vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, and is microchipped. He also received a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable.
Training & Support
Merle is treat-motivated and eager to please, making him a joy to train. He walks fairly well on a leash, with occasional pulling due to excitement or wanting to greet friends. He is working on basic commands like "sit" and will readily take to additional training as a fun bonding experience. He enjoys puzzle toys, licky mats, and enrichment games. Merle is used to some hustle and bustle and doesn't get overwhelmed, simply enjoying being included.
