Toby and his three siblings were found abandoned on a country road in Lee County, Virginia. Their local shelter was overflowing and facing euthanizing animals due to space constraints, so the person who found them cared for them for nearly three weeks until a rescue, us, could step in and save them! We are so incredibly happy we said yes to these hound pups, even though we are a pit bull rescue, because they are some of the sweetest babies we've ever had in rescue!
Toby is an absolute sweetheart who loves to be close to his people and is a champion snuggler. He entertains himself easily with toys or a chew bone. Toby enjoys playing with the other puppies and dogs in his foster home and loves everyone he meets, having never met a stranger. He is a joyful, tail-wagging hound with freckles and a heart-shaped marking right on his brow! This happy boy wakes up every day ready to make friends, explore the world, and soak up all the love he can get. If you're looking for a dog who will greet you with a "good morning!" and a wagging tail every time you walk through the door, Toby is your guy. He adores other dogs and is happiest when he has a furry friend to play with. Toby also does wonderfully with children, making him a great addition to a family home where he can join in on backyard adventures, walks, and cuddle time after a long day of fun. He is crate and house-trained at just 10 months old! Like most hounds, Toby enjoys sniffing out new smells and exploring his surroundings, often "talking" to squirrels and birds, but his favorite place is right by his people. He's the kind of dog who brings sunshine wherever he goes and quickly becomes everyone’s best friend.

Toby loves to play and would thrive in a home with another dog to be his friend and playmate. He also does wonderfully with children.

Toby's adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, microchip, and neuter.
Training & Support
Toby is crate trained and house trained. He sits on command and is good when his paws need cleaning. He is still learning about personal space when it comes to toys and needs gentle guidance. He is also still learning to walk his best on a leash, though he loves walks. Toby barks at squirrels and will want to chase them, and he also "talks" (barks) at everyone to say hello. He is a big toy enthusiast and loves all kinds of toys!
