About Scout

Scout is a sweet, playful, and affectionate male Rat Terrier, approximately 3–4 years old and weighing around 14 lbs. He's full of personality, loves to run and play, and enjoys being close to his people. Scout thrives on affection, making him a wonderful and loyal companion. He's very sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, and adults. Scout was rescued after a frightening encounter with larger dogs, but thankfully, he only sustained minor scratches and has shown incredible resilience and a loving spirit ever since. He's safe, healthy, and ready to embark on a new chapter with a family who will cherish him.

Ideal Home

Scout would thrive in a home with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He's looking for a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an open conscience regarding the behaviors of rescued street animals that may need protection and education. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, are highly encouraged. A high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are also important.

Ongoing Health

Scout has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including being spayed/neutered, receiving two DHPPI vaccines, a Rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test and certificate, a negative heartworm test certificate, and monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra. He also has a health certificate and a vaccine booklet. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and patience to overcome past experiences, fears, and anxieties.

Training & Support

Scout is not house-trained. It's important to note that many rescued pets are not potty trained. Patience and understanding are crucial for Scout to build trust and a strong bond with his new family, helping him to overcome any past trauma.
