About George and Piper

Meet George and Piper! George is a devoted three-year-old Great Pyrenees/Saint Bernard mix, and Piper is a joyful two-year-old Pharaoh Hound/American Pitbull Terrier mix. They are a heartwarming study in contrast and connection, with George offering quiet strength and a soulful gaze, and Piper bringing her spark, resilience, and endless affection!

George's presence is as steady and soulful as the mountains that surround him. Though his early life was harsh and lonely, George has spent the last 15 months with a foster family who helped him rediscover what it means to be safe, loved, and understood. He's not a dog who demands constant cuddles; he’s the type who’ll quietly lay at your feet while you’re cooking dinner, or settle beside you on the floor as you unwind with a movie. His affection is deep, and when he chooses to show it, it’s a moment you won’t forget!

Piper, on the other hand, is the sunshine in George’s sky! Once neglected, she now radiates joy, trust, and boundless energy. She loves people, delights in play, and excels at cuddling close! Her favorite games include keep-away with toys, and she greets familiar faces with an infectious mix of wiggles, hugs, and tail wags. Piper is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows sit, down, and stay. While she thrives with activity, she’s also content to snooze beside her favorite person or pup.

George is house-trained, leash-savvy, and knows several commands like sit, down, shake, easy, and stay. He thrives on predictability and responds beautifully to gentle guidance and clear routines. He enjoys human companionship but also values having his own space. He’s the kind of dog who builds bonds slowly, and once you're in his circle, you're there for life!

Piper is friendly to strangers, wonderful with children, and very good with other dogs. Her love for George is clear in how she encourages him to play, rest, and trust. While she may need slow introductions with cats or small animals, her gentle spirit suggests she’ll learn with patience and care. Like many pups, she’s sensitive to loud sounds like fireworks and thunder, and will appreciate a cozy retreat when things get noisy.

Ideal Home

George is most compatible with a calm, structured environment and a guardian who understands that trust isn’t instant, it’s built over time. He’s not suited to apartments or small condos; he needs room to roam, think, and feel secure.

Ongoing Health

George had one fear-based bite incident during a meet-and-greet when a visitor moved too quickly into his space and repeatedly patted his head, a sensitive area for George due to past trauma. In a separate instance, George snapped (without making contact) when a new person leaned in face-to-face with him in an unfamiliar environment, a clear signal that he needs space and time to feel safe before close physical contact. A professional trainer evaluated him and confirmed that George is not aggressive but is a sensitive, thoughtful dog reacting in ways consistent with his breed and background. His compassionate trainers have kindly offered to support his future family with video or phone consultations.
