About Nola

Nola is a loving, approximately 2-year-old Coonhound mix who weighs around 37 pounds. She has a resilient spirit and a heart full of affection. Nola is wonderful with dogs, children, men, and women. She is house trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Nola is very affectionate and thrives on human attention, forming strong bonds with her people. She has a naturally protective personality.

Nola is an energetic young dog who loves to play and needs regular exercise and mental stimulation. She can destroy toys when bored or overly excited, so she would do best with an active family that can help channel her energy in positive ways.

Nola's story is heartbreaking but also a testament to her strength. She and her sisters were abandoned on the streets of Houston as puppies, surviving by hiding underneath broken-down trucks while suffering from severe malnutrition and starvation. Tragically, two of her sisters were killed there in a brutal act of violence. Nola was also attacked with rocks and sticks, and during the assault, her right leg became dislocated. Despite the injury, she escaped and survived. Today, she walks and runs well and doesn't let her past define her.

Nola is searching for a forever home where she will finally know safety, patience, and unconditional love. She has already survived more than any dog should, and now she deserves a family that will cherish and protect her for the rest of her life.

Ideal Home

A home with a fenced backyard and a family that enjoys outdoor activities. Families with an open conscience about rescuing street animals and understanding their need for protection and education are ideal. Experience in dog behavior and training background is preferred, along with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.

Ongoing Health

Nola has received a spay/neuter, DHPPI vaccine, rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, has been dewormed, and has a heartworm test certificate and health certificate.

Training & Support

Nola is house-trained and crate-trained and walks well on a leash. However, she can destroy toys when bored or overly excited, so she needs an active family to help channel her energy positively. Potential adopters should be prepared for the ongoing need for patience and education with rescued animals.
