About MAJOR

Meet Major — The Treat Inspector General! Major is a young German Shepherd mix with two main goals in life: make friends and locate snacks immediately. He came to the shelter with his sister Sammy, and according to his previous owner, he was housebroken, loved car rides, had basic obedience training, didn’t try to escape, and was friendly with adults, kids, dogs, and even cats. Honestly, Major sounds like he was trying to collect every “good boy” achievement badge available. This handsome goofball seems very dog friendly and is far more interested in making new canine acquaintances through the fence than focusing on toys. Toys are fun, sure... but have you considered SOCIAL NETWORKING? Major certainly has. He already knows sit, stay (briefly... before distractions happen), and come. He takes treats gently, although if you happen to be carrying high-value treats, he may suddenly become very interested in conducting a full inventory check of your pockets. Major is extremely food motivated and will likely learn quickly with continued training — especially if snacks are involved. On leash, he does pretty well overall but can get a little jumpy and excited when the world gets interesting. He’s still a young dog with energy and enthusiasm, so he could benefit from some continued training and structure. The good news is that Major appears eager to learn and very motivated to work with people. Major would thrive in a home ready for fun adventures, continued learning, car rides, and plenty of treats. If you’re looking for a friendly, playful, slightly goofy companion who loves both people and dogs, Major is ready to report for duty.
