About Cara

Cara is a delightful 1.5-year-old, 30 lb Lab mix with a heart full of love! She was rescued from a difficult past, where she lived in less-than-ideal conditions. Despite her beginnings, Cara is a sweet, affectionate, and playful girl who is thriving now that she's receiving plenty of good food and care. She absolutely adores a game of fetch, tug, and chase, and enjoys leisurely sniffy walks – her harness works like a charm! Cara is eager to learn, already potty trained, crate-friendly, and reliably comes when called, especially if you whistle or make a lip-smacking sound. She's very social and enjoys the company of other dogs, and is happy to be near her human while they work. She's only been left alone for up to 4 hours and has had no accidents. Cara is a wonderful blend of cuddly affection and happy energy, making her the perfect companion for someone looking for a good mix of fun and snuggles.

Ideal Home

Cara would make a fantastic Best Friend! She is social and enjoys the company of other dogs. She is also very good with children over the age of six. Please keep shoes tucked away, as she is still mastering her puppy manners and can be a bit curious about them.

Ongoing Health

Cara has heartworms, a condition from not being kept on prevention in her past. The good news is that Humane Tomorrow will cover the cost of her treatment with our partner vet, and these treatments are very successful.

Training & Support

Cara is already potty trained and crate-friendly. She comes when called, especially to whistles, lip smacks, or the name "Skip" (the resident dog's name). She is still working on her puppy manners, so keeping tempting items like shoes out of reach will be helpful as she continues to learn.
