Scout

Scout is a sweet, playful, and affectionate male Rat Terrier, approximately 3-4 years old and weighing around 14 lbs. He's full of personality and loves to run, play, and snuggle close to his people, truly enjoying both giving and receiving affection. Scout is very sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women, making him an easy fit for many families. He was rescued after a frightening encounter with larger dogs, but thankfully, he only sustained minor scratches. Despite being scared, he was brave and allowed himself to be gently handled, showing incredible resilience and a loving spirit. Now safe and healthy, Scout is ready to start a new chapter with a family who will shower him with the love and care he deserves.

Ideal Home

Scout would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs and behaviors of rescued animals, who may require extra protection and education. Families with experience in dog behavior and training, or those willing to hire a trainer, are highly preferred, as are those with high tolerance and patience for rescued dogs.

Ongoing Health

Scout has received a comprehensive health protocol including: Spay/Neuter Certificate, 2 shots of DHPPI Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Bordetella Vaccine, Deworming, Microchip, 4DX Test and Certificate, Heartworm Test Negative Certificate, Monthly Preventive Protection (Nexgard Spectra), and a Health Certificate with a Vaccines booklet.

Training & Support

Scout is not house-trained. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and require time to adapt to new environments and people. Patience, understanding, a safe and loving environment, and establishing a routine with clear boundaries are crucial for building trust and strengthening the bond with Scout.

• You must fill out our adoption form.
• Send photos and videos of your home to ensure your future furry friend will be safe.
• If there's a match, we will call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• We will speak with 1-2 of your references.
• If approved, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.

Transportation

Scout is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip. Door-to-door delivery is available for a one-time transport fee of $400 USD. This fee covers the cost of transportation from Mexico to your home. Scheduled trips occur 3-4 times per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. Our partnered transport company will escort pets across the border into Texas, or to the nearest US-Canada border for Canadian adoptions, with all necessary legal documents and health certificates. You will receive real-time updates throughout the journey in a private Facebook Messenger group.
