Hi, I'm Nellie, a five-year-old girl with a big heart and a sweet disposition. While my past before rescue is a mystery, it's clear that I'm slowly learning what it means to be loved. I'm a small girl, only about 15 pounds, but I'm packed with sweetness and don't have a mean bone in my body. I tend to freeze and squat when approached, a lingering habit from my past, but I'm discovering that humans can be kind and loving. I learn best by watching other dogs, and I'd thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion to guide me and build my confidence. I'm enjoying sunbathing, snacks, and even getting the zoomies with my foster siblings! I'm not the life of the party and prefer quiet moments, soft blankets, and the warmth of sunshine. Once I trust you, I become a cuddle bug, but it takes me a little time to feel secure. I also enjoy "spa days" and baths, which make me feel extra special. I'm still working on potty training and appreciate patience and consistency. While I don't mind a crate, my foster family has focused on building my confidence first. I can be curious and a bit too close when meeting new dogs, but I learn social cues well. I find comfort in small spaces, like a box of diapers, and I love sinking into giant dog beds. Bamboo bones are a favorite treat, especially when enjoyed in a sunny spot. My simple joys include comfort, kindness, dog friends, and being loved for who I am.
Ideal Home
A home with another friendly dog to help guide me and build my confidence. I prefer quiet moments and don't enjoy busy social outings.
Ongoing Health
I currently show no signs of underlying medical issues. I have a unique build with slightly longer back legs and a compact body. My foster family recommends proactive care for my mobility and comfort as I age, such as chiropractic care, laser therapy, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding excessive jumping.
Training & Support
I am still learning potty training and would benefit from patience and consistency. I can sometimes get too close when meeting new dogs but take corrections well. I am learning to come when called and have begun to understand routines and treats. I enjoy chewing on bamboo bones.
