Meet Essex! This adorable boy is about 5 years old and weighs around 10 pounds, making him a perfect companion for someone looking for a smaller furry friend. Essex is a smart and playful pup who enjoys entertaining himself with his toys and loves a good zoomie session in the yard. He's also a confident little guy who enjoys interacting with other dogs.
Ideal Home
Essex would do best as the only dog in the home or with one other laid-back canine companion. He's a precocious and alpha dog, so he needs an experienced owner who can provide guidance. He would be a wonderful fit for an older individual or couple. We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 8.
Ongoing Health
Essex had a rough start and was quite matted when rescued, requiring him to be shaved down. His beautiful coat is now growing back wonderfully! All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all necessary vaccines including Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza. They are also on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and parasites.
Training & Support
Essex is pretty well house-trained, but he does have a tendency to occasionally mark other dogs' beds, which is something to be aware of. He walks well on a leash and with his confident personality, he will thrive with an owner who can provide consistent leadership and positive reinforcement.
