About Fosters Needed!!

Your help is needed to save dogs' lives! Wags is a coalition of rescuers that saves Pyrs and Pyr mixes from Southern and Midwestern kill shelters where these large breed dogs often only have a few days. After dogs are pulled from shelters, they are assessed, vetted, spayed or neutered, and quarantined for two weeks or more before going to a foster home.

There aren't enough foster homes in the areas where these dogs come from, so they are transported to foster families around the country. This allows them to live in a home environment and interact with kids, cats, people, and other dogs. Every dog that goes into a foster home allows us to pull another dog from a shelter.

Ideal Home

We are looking for foster homes where dogs can thrive. While many of our dogs have been successfully integrated into homes with children, cats, and other dogs, please be aware that each dog's history is unique.

Ongoing Health

All dogs are assessed and vetted before going to a foster home. They are spayed or neutered as part of their intake process.

Training & Support

The description notes that dogs are generally house trained "No". Further guidance on specific training needs will be provided to foster families.
