Copper (formerly known as Rex) is a 4-year-old, 48 lb Australian Cattle Dog/Lab mix with a big heart and strong sense of loyalty. He was originally adopted from us as a puppy, but due to changes in his current family's lifestyle, Copper is looking for a new home that better suits his needs. Copper is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves to snuggle and be near his people. He is playful, enjoys toys and bones, and thrives on routine. True to his cattle dog roots, he keeps a close eye on his family and loves when everyone is safe and accounted for. Copper is a very smart boy, eager to learn and please. He knows several commands including: sit, stay, lay down, back up, go to bed, and come. He loves mental stimulation by playing "find it" with toys or treats, using puzzle feeders, or chasing bubbles. He will thrive in a home where he has a job to do, a predictable routine, and lots of love and attention. Copper does well with other dogs when off-leash at doggy daycare and in a neutral environment. He will bark at dogs who pass by his home on walks so a home with a fenced in yard is best as he can be easily distracted when off-leash. He enjoys leash walks in quiet areas as opposed to a busy or city environment. He loves his crate and considers it his safe space where he can completely relax, especially when left home alone or overnight. He will even put himself to bed at night. He likes burrowing under blankets and uses one over his head at the vet which can be scary for him. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big brain and an even bigger heart, Copper could be the perfect fit for you.

Copper is looking for an experienced and patient dog owner who understands working breeds and can give him a calm, structured environment.
