About Brie

Brie is a beautiful, approximately 3-year-old, 60+ pound livestock guardian breed who has overcome a difficult past. When she arrived at a shelter, she was heartworm positive and had fur loss on her hindquarters. But with love, good food, and medical care, Brie has made a remarkable recovery and is now a stunning dog, both inside and out. Brie is an independent thinker, fiercely loyal, and protective of her loved ones. She prefers to observe new people from a distance until she feels comfortable, and once she trusts you, she will be a devoted companion.

Ideal Home

Brie would be happiest in a home with a secure, fenced yard where she can safely enjoy the outdoors while still being an integral part of the family indoors. She is not looking for an outdoor-only dog. Ideally, her new family will have experience with livestock guardian breeds or be eager to learn about their unique characteristics. Due to her cautious nature with new dogs and potential for squirrels to catch her attention, a home as an only pet, especially for out-of-state adopters who cannot do in-person introductions, would be easiest. We recommend a home with older children who understand how to respectfully interact with dogs, as she has not been tested with young children or cats.

Ongoing Health

Brie was previously heartworm positive but has successfully completed treatment. She is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and microchipped. She will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.

Training & Support

Brie has not spent much of her life living inside a home but has adapted well to her kennel, keeping it clean and not destroying her bedding. With a little patience and consistency, she is expected to adjust beautifully to home life.
