Buddy feels like the kind of dog who should come with a porch, a couple acres, and a standing invitation to be included in absolutely everything. He's a year old, weighs about 87 lbs, and has big ol' smoosh-face energy with a giant heart to match. Buddy is an enthusiastic walking buddy, a couch snuggler, a toy collector, and a daycare socialite. He's the best of both worlds: a "let's go do stuff!" dog and a "perfectly content melting into the couch beside you" dog. We suspect some Anatolian Shepherd, Great Pyrenees, and Lab might be in the mix, and he's already proven to be a social, affectionate, and genuinely good-natured companion. You can see more of this lovable galumph of a dog on YouTube by searching for "Buddy Big Smoosh."
Ideal Home
Buddy would thrive with an adopter who understands large breed dogs and has room in both their home and lifestyle for a young dog who still needs continued guidance and structure. While he could potentially live in a larger apartment with an active adopter committed to daily outings and exercise, he would likely be happiest with space to stretch his legs, a yard to roam, and people who enjoy including their dog in everyday life. He has done well around cats in controlled settings, though dog-savvy cats and thoughtful introductions are recommended. Older kids or teens would likely be a lovely fit given his size and youthful enthusiasm.
Ongoing Health
Buddy is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, and flea prevention. He will also receive a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative. A health certificate deeming him healthy for travel will be provided.
Training & Support
Buddy is smart, eager, and quick to learn. He already kennels on command at home and rides well in the car. While he has excellent social skills, he is still a young, large dog and occasionally his youthful enthusiasm shows. He can sometimes be a little slow to pick up on other dogs' "leave me alone" signals, but it's in a lovable young-dog way. Continued positive exposure, leadership, and appropriate boundaries will help him continue growing into the best version of himself.
