Papa is a sweet and loveable boy who was surrendered by his previous owners. He can be a handful due to separation anxiety, which led to accidents in the house. The neighbor who cared for Papa was horrified by his owner's past actions with another pet and sought help for him. Papa has some vision issues that Dr. Sheppard believes are due to allergies and is currently on supplements to help correct them. He has formed a strong bond with the head of the rescue and trusts her, but he experiences anxiety when she is not by his side. A trainer has assessed Papa and believes he would benefit from having a "job" due to his breed. He knows "sit" and "give me paw" and walks well on a leash.
Ideal Home
Papa would thrive in a home that understands his breed and is committed to providing plenty of walks. A farm would be his dream home! He is looking for a friend and his own person who is patient and understanding.
Ongoing Health
Papa has vision issues that are believed to be due to allergies and is receiving supplements to help. All dogs in our care are muscle tested at Sheppard Alternative Animal Care and seen at Natural Healing Pet Care. They are fed a healthy diet of Dr. Harvey's or Grandma Lucy's premixes with protein, and Zignature kibble for nighttime feeding. We do not over-vaccinate and do not use topical flea treatments to keep their bodies clean of toxins.
Training & Support
Papa experiences separation anxiety and can be excited around food, sometimes attempting to get his bowl from the counter. He has also been known to jump a wood fence to get to the head of the rescue, though he has never left the yard. We are seeking adopters who are willing to learn and practice holistic care, and we are happy to teach you.
