About Penny

Meet Penny, a bright and loving 2-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix who weighs about 62 pounds. This spirited girl has a big heart and so much affection to give to her forever family. Penny is looking for an active home where she can stay engaged, explore new adventures, and enjoy plenty of cuddle time. She's curious, social, and ready to be your devoted companion.

Ideal Home

Penny would thrive in a home that provides structure, patience, and understanding. Given her exuberance and herding instincts, a home with older teens or adults who are familiar with dog behavior would be ideal. She's also looking for a cat-free household due to past prey-driven behavior observed outdoors. Penny enjoys the company of other dogs and does best with confident, medium-to-large canine friends who can match her playful energy and help her navigate social cues.

Ongoing Health

Penny is a healthy girl ready for her forever home.

Training & Support

Penny is fully house-trained and can be left in a designated area when you're away, though she is still learning to feel completely comfortable with separation. She isn't crate trained and prefers to be close to her people. While she may whine or bark when separated, it's a sign of her deep bond and desire to be near you. She is learning to manage her excitement on leash walks and would benefit from an adopter who enjoys outdoor activities. Penny has a tendency to protect her space and high-value items around other dogs, but this is manageable with clear boundaries and consistent training, and she's made great progress in her foster home. She can also be a bit of a chewer when bored, especially with dog beds.
