Emmie - Need Foster

Emmeline is a 2-year-old black Lab mix who is a true sweetheart. She was found in rural Monterey County, showing signs of distress and a need for medical attention. While her exact past is unknown, she tested positive for Ehrlichia, indicating past tick exposure. She is currently undergoing a course of antibiotics, and if her circling behavior doesn't improve, she will see a neurologist. Emmeline has been spayed and is looking for a special foster home where she can get the care and attention she deserves. Her foster describes her as a lot of work but incredibly sweet, with her personality blossoming each day.

Ideal Home

Emmeline needs a patient and understanding foster home that can accommodate her medical needs. She would benefit from a home where someone is around frequently to help manage her care. She has a strong desire for food, and her circling can make other pets uncomfortable in the house, so separation may be needed. She does try to chase cats.

Ongoing Health

Emmeline has tested positive for Ehrlichia and is on a month-long course of antibiotics. Further neurological evaluation may be needed if her circling persists. She was spayed on March 24th.

Training & Support

Emmeline is house-trained and knows how to sit for her dinner, though she doesn't respond to the command on cue. She whines at dogs and cats, and in her crate, which she dislikes. She needs a large crate or space where she can circle comfortably. She also tries to get on furniture and needs supervision around food.
