Meet Cheese, a one and a half year old Boxer/Pointer mix.
Cheese’s story is a tough one for such a young dog. Adopted as a puppy, he’s unfortunately been returned to the shelter three times. That kind of instability is hard on any dog, and it’s left him with some separation anxiety—but it’s also made one thing very clear: Cheese is ready for a true forever home that will commit to him for life. Despite everything, Cheese is still a happy, outgoing, and delightfully dorky guy. His adorable underbite gives him a constant goofy grin, and his playful personality makes him a joy to be around. He bonds deeply with his people and thrives on connection—he just needs someone who can give him consistency, reassurance, and clear direction.
Ideal Home
Cheese would do best in a home without cats due to his prey drive. He’s strong and energetic, so he’ll do best with an adopter who can provide structure, regular exercise, and guidance to help him feel secure. He has met other dogs while with us and has done extremely well and could be a good candidate for a home with another dog.
Ongoing Health
Cheese experiences separation anxiety.
Training & Support
Cheese is a smart pup who already knows "sit" and is very treat motivated, which makes training a great way to build his confidence and strengthen your bond. He needs someone who understands that he’s been through a lot and is ready to show him what stability and unconditional love look like.
