Monte is a 7-year-old bully mix with a big head and an even bigger personality! He came to us after his beloved owner unexpectedly passed away. While the transition from home to shelter was initially confusing and stressful, Monte has since settled in and truly shown us his goofy side. He lights up when he sees his friends, bouncing with excitement and gently nudging for scratches. Monte is affectionate and loves attention, but he's also perfectly content doing his own thing. He enjoys exploring our fenced-in fields, splashing in kiddie pools, and chasing his favorite toys. Bath time is a breeze, and he seems to enjoy the thorough scrub-down and cozy towel-dry afterward, even posing like a king! He's a smart, sassy boy who already knows how to sit, give paw, and "speak" for a treat – and he's not afraid to remind you he's there! Monte is the perfect blend of independent and affectionate, a loyal companion who loves to coexist with his people and snuggle up when the moment is right. He was even a great companion during a day out, enjoying car rides, exploring yards, and napping on the bed.
Ideal Home
Monte has done well with other dogs at the shelter, though he can be selective. He has a minor history of resource guarding food/toys with other dogs, so if you have another dog, we advise separate feeding and play spaces. All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit.
Ongoing Health
All adoption fees include the animal's spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, and heartworm testing.
Training & Support
Monte knows how to sit, give paw, and "speak" for a treat. He may "speak" just to remind you he's there!

- Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals.
- If you are interested in Monte but he ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match!
- If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions!
- We provide a small bag of food to get you started.
