About Raya
Meet Raya!
Raya's story is one of resilience and enduring loyalty. We'll never forget the day she was found, heartbroken, standing guard over her sibling who had tragically passed on the side of a busy highway. Despite the danger of passing cars, she refused to leave until a volunteer could safely bring her to safety. That day marked the beginning of Raya's new, brighter chapter.
Today, Raya is a joyful, athletic, and incredibly goofy young girl who has truly blossomed. When she gets the zoomies, she bounds across the yard like a graceful deer, her playful energy guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. She's an adventure enthusiast who loves walks, car rides, and exploring. The moment anyone heads for the door, Raya is convinced she's invited along for the ride! She'd happily wander for miles, so a securely fenced yard is a must for her to safely enjoy her explorations.
Once the adventures are done, Raya's favorite activity is being as close to her people as possible. She cherishes lap time, loves snuggling on the couch, and will happily inch her way to taking over your bed. She's seeking a family that truly wants their dog to be an integral part of their everyday lives, and we're eager to find adopters who are excited to offer her just that.
Raya requires slow, positive introductions to new people and other dogs. While she is incredibly affectionate and loyal once she trusts you, she does appreciate a little time to warm up. For this reason, she would likely do best as the only dog in the home, especially for adopters who cannot facilitate in-person meet-and-greets with resident dogs. She has shown she can get along with other dogs after proper introductions, but we want to ensure this process is unhurried. Cats, however, are a bit too exciting for Raya, so a cat-free home is essential.
Raya forms deep, loving bonds with her family and isn't a dog who enjoys being alone for extended periods. Her foster has found that using a sturdy crate when needed helps manage some separation anxiety and prevents mischief. If your household typically involves 8-10 hour absences with limited togetherness, Raya may not be the best fit.
This brave girl has overcome heartbreak and learned to trust again. She's now ready to pour all her love into a forever family. If you believe you're the perfect home for Raya, we encourage you to apply and share why.
