Hi there! My name is Darren Dixon, but my foster mom calls me Dixon. I'm a Lab Retriever Mix, weighing in at about 55lbs, and my birthday is estimated to be around November 25, 2024. I had a bit of a rough start, but thanks to the wonderful people at Sunnyside Street Dogs and Pooch Manor, I'm getting a second chance at life, and I'm eager to show them they made the right decision! When I first arrived at my foster home, I was a little shy and needed some quiet time to adjust. Now, I've settled in beautifully and I absolutely adore my foster siblings – a younger dog who's my favorite playmate and an older dog who tolerates my enthusiasm! The kids in the house are wonderful, and I love them dearly. I'm even working on my friendship with the resident cat, though she hasn't quite warmed up to me yet. I'm a smart cookie, too! I know how to sit and shake, and I have a special trick called "Pray" that melts hearts. I love gently nudging my foster mom for attention, and she always tells me what a sweet boy I am. While my skin is still healing and I'm getting medicated baths, my foster mom says I look like a "little werewolf" – but she also gives the best massages, so I forgive her! My kennel is my safe place, and I happily go in for treats and praise. I'm just looking for a family to cherish me forever.
Ideal Home
I would love a home where I'll be cherished forever. A playful dog sibling to wrestle and romp with would be the icing on the cake!
Ongoing Health
My skin is still healing, and I'm receiving medicated baths each week to help my fur grow back.
Training & Support
I'm kennel trained and potty trained. I know how to sit and shake.

Transportation
I am located in Houston, TX. Transportation is included in the adoption fee and may include pick-up locations in nearby towns or states. We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third-party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360 and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
