About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male hound/retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle and is happy to be by your side. Comet was rescued from the streets and brought to a local shelter before a volunteer rescue group stepped in to save him. He's a resilient and adaptable dog who thrives on pleasing his people and is easy to train.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog to snuggle and play with, as he enjoys having a canine companion. He has also lived with indoor cats and children and does well with them. Due to a slight herding instinct, we recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. Comet is a bit wary of men, so patience and consistency will be key for him to warm up, though he adores his current foster dad.

Ongoing Health

Comet is generally healthy and has no known medical conditions.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his crate without issue and doesn't pull on the leash. He hasn't had any accidents in the house and will let you know when he needs to go outside. While he doesn't seem to have separation anxiety, he is crated when unsupervised because he enjoys tasting new things. His one vice is his love for tasting things, so keeping tempting items out of reach will be important.
