Darby

Darby is a 2-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua/Terrier mix with the most adorable short legs! He has a spunky personality and thinks he's a big dog, always ready to voice his opinion with his furry friends. Darby loves to snuggle up in his bed, often under a warm blanket, and is happy to doze in your lap while you watch TV. He's crate-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his core vaccinations.

Ideal Home

Darby cannot jump up or down from anything. He needs a home where he can be kept safe from heights.

Ongoing Health

Darby has undergone two surgeries on his right front leg due to a growth plate injury. The first was a dynamic ulnar osteotomy with IM pin placement, followed by a second surgery to remove the pin. While these procedures helped, he still walks with a limp, and his leg has a permanent bowing with his foot turned. He is very good at using his back legs when motivated by treats or affection.

Training & Support

Darby is a smart boy who runs outside to do his business in the morning. However, he can get distracted and may need to be called to go outside. He gets along well with other dogs of all sizes, often acting like he's in charge, though they tend to ignore his bravado.
