Say hello to Fozzie Bear (aka Fuzz Bucket or FB)! This adorable fuzzball is about 8.5 years old and weighs around 10 pounds, with a delightful mix of half sheep and half muppet dog charm. We suspect he's a Poodle mix, perhaps with some Shih Tzu in the mix. Fozzie Bear came to us after his owner sadly passed away. He's mostly a typical dog who adores his walks and playing with toys. He also loves to romp in the yard, but a fenced yard isn't a must-have as long as he gets plenty of leash time. Fozzie is also a star when it comes to house training, with no accidents in his foster home! He's a sweet boy who just needs a patient and understanding home.
Ideal Home
Fozzie Bear would thrive in an adult-only home, as children might not understand a dog's need for personal space. He also needs a home where someone is around most of the time, as being alone for extended periods can cause him stress. A home with dog experience is preferred, and a household with other dogs should only include those his size, or no other dogs at all. If other dogs are present, introductions should be slow and careful.
Ongoing Health
Fozzie Bear is managed with fluoxetine and trazodone to help with his guarding behaviors.
Training & Support
Fozzie Bear can exhibit guarding behaviors, sometimes becoming snippy if someone tries to pet him while he's on the couch with another person, or if other dogs enter his personal space, especially around food. He can also get a little "snippy" at the groomer or vet. His outbursts are infrequent when he's on his medication. While he's had some tiffs with the resident dogs, he's generally done well. He's a trainable dog, as he and his previous owner worked successfully with a trainer.
