MEET BLUEBERRY!
This sweet senior girl, around 12 years old, is as charming as her name suggests. Blueberry was adopted in 2013 and lived a happy life until her family faced hard times. She was rehomed but sadly ended up abandoned and living outdoors before being surrendered to animal control. Now, she's safe with us, ready to find her true happily ever after! Despite her past, Blueberry is a social butterfly who loves meeting new people. She's currently thriving in a foster home with other dogs, a cat, and children, showing how adaptable and loving she is. She enjoys playtime, especially tug-o-war and toy destruction, but is also happy to snooze on the couch.
Ideal Home
Blueberry enjoys the company of other dogs, cats, and children. She needs to be fed separately from other dogs to manage a slight food guarding tendency. She can be a bit pushy when first meeting other dogs, but quickly settles in and is happy to share her space.
Ongoing Health
Blueberry has benign lipomas (fatty deposits), which are common for her age. She has been spayed and is up to date on all vaccinations. She also has a sensitive stomach and may have occasional stress-related accidents, especially when left alone.
Training & Support
Blueberry is a vocal dog who uses her voice to seek attention and invite play. While she's improved at not barking for food, it's still a work in progress. She can also bark when overstimulated, but responds well to redirection with a toy. She may occasionally grumble or nip if disturbed while sleeping but does eventually listen. Clear boundaries will continue to help her thrive, as she can sometimes be a bit pushy about personal space or begging for food. Crate training is recommended to help her feel secure and prevent accidents when left alone.
