JJ Ryder is a solid, athletic, and loyal dude who's down for any adventure and happy to crash hard afterwards. This handsome boy is about 4 years old and 75 lbs, built like the kind of dog who naturally looks right walking beside you. JJ lives for adventure, whether it's long hikes, fetch marathons, snow days, swimming, or boat rides. Tennis balls are a non-negotiable must-have, and if shoes come out, he knows it's time for fun! After a day of activity, he's equally happy to chill, snuggle on the couch, or quietly watch your next move. JJ clicks instantly with men and thrives on calm, confident leadership, responding incredibly well to structure and bonding deeply with his person. He's smart, calm, and tuned in, already knowing a solid set of commands. He is gentle-lead trained and comes when called. While he enjoys his foster mom's company, he becomes all about his "dad" when he's home. JJ is happy to hang out by his foster mom's feet while she works from home, patiently waiting for his favorite person to return. He's unfazed by loud trucks, motorcycles, thunder, or fireworks, remaining calm and confident. He will alert you to new people or dogs and then settle, drawing his confidence from his #1 person. JJ is fully potty trained and crate trained, meaning he can free-roam without causing trouble. He's respectful of space, not destructive, doesn't resource guard, and sleeps quietly through the night. He's affectionate without being pushy, loyal without being clingy – just a dang good dog. JJ is currently thriving with a large male Lab and a playful small dog but would be just as happy as a solo companion.
Ideal Home
JJ is best suited for an adult home or one with calm older teens. Due to his prey drive, a cat-free home is ideal.
