Meet Tex!
This lively two-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix is a medium-sized boy, around 35 pounds, with a handsome red speckled coat that perfectly matches his energetic and attentive spirit. Tex absolutely thrives on connection and loves being right by your side, happily keeping you company throughout the day. He's wonderfully trained and responsive, knowing commands like sit, stay, leave it, and place, and he enjoys learning through positive reinforcement and structure. Tex is house-trained, crate-trained, and settles nicely when left alone, happily watching the world from the window until his people return. Daily walks, games of fetch, and joyful runs where he can stretch his legs are some of his favorite ways to spend time!
Tex is affectionate and loyal, forming strong bonds with his caregivers and showing his love by staying close and patiently waiting for shared moments. He is friendly with other dogs and brings a playful, social energy to every interaction!
Ideal Home
Tex would do best in an adult-only home or a home with older teens who understand herding breeds. He needs a caring environment where his energy and intelligence are appreciated and where he can continue building confidence in a calm and supportive setting. An active lifestyle with regular exercise, engagement, and ongoing learning opportunities is a must.
Ongoing Health
Tex is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Like many in his breed, Tex has a strong herding instinct, particularly around fast-moving children. In situations where he became overstimulated, Tex has bitten, and one incident resulted in a bite that required medical attention. He has shown real capacity for growth with consistency and positive reinforcement, and an experienced home committed to ongoing, structured training with a professional can help him thrive.
