About Daisy Mae
Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has truly blossomed from a difficult start in life. Rescued as part of a police confiscation case for abuse and neglect, she weighed just 18 lbs at six months old. It took months of patient care before she learned that a gentle hand could mean love, not harm. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl ready to find a family who will provide the safety and devotion she's always deserved. She adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. Daisy Mae has a moderate activity level, enjoying walks and playtime but also knowing how to relax. She's a smart and affectionate dog who loves car rides, heavy chew toys, and being near her people. When meeting strangers, she may act shy at first but warms up quickly and loves attention once she feels secure. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience, looking for a home that understands her past, provides gentle structure, and celebrates the happy, goofy, affectionate girl she's become.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae thrives in a home where she can feel safe and loved. She adores children of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. While she enjoys playtime with other dogs, she can be a bit bossy and benefits from slow introductions. She does best with balanced or confident dogs who can handle her enthusiasm. Daisy Mae does not need another dog in the home and would do wonderfully as an only pet. If placed with another dog, slow intros are essential, and she'd do best with a calm, confident companion.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive in foster care. She does have slightly runny eyes, which her foster suspects are due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This doesn't require any treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes.
Training & Support
Daisy Mae is fully house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. Because of her past experience with food insecurity, Daisy Mae eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating and is happiest when given space for mealtime and a calm environment. She is great on leash.
