Ginger

Meet Ginger! This sweet 6-year-old Greyhound mix, also known as a lurcher, has the soft brown eyes of a fawn and weighs in at a petite 50 pounds. She's sure to melt your heart with her gentle nature. Ginger enjoys her walks and spending time exploring the outdoors. She's a smart cookie who knows how to jump straight up in the air to alert you to exciting things like squirrels! She also does well in her kennel overnight and is happy to have a potty break before bed.

Ideal Home

Ginger would do best in a home with a securely fenced-in yard where she can safely sniff and explore at her leisure. She needs patient humans, as new people can make her anxious, especially men. Due to her sensitivities, she would not do well in a house with young or rambunctious children. Ginger currently lives with another Greyhound and would likely do well with another large, confident dog who can show her the ropes. Introductions are a must to ensure compatibility, but no small dogs or cats for this girl.

Ongoing Health

Ginger is a healthy girl. Her adoption fee covers spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, parasite treatments, teeth cleaning, and microchip implantation with registration. She will come with a special sighthound collar and leash set, and a muzzle.

Training & Support

Ginger walks well on a leash but should always wear a harness due to her prey drive for small animals. She's a shy girl who will become a devoted companion to her person, sometimes chattering her teeth to express her excitement.

Transportation

Ginger is currently being fostered in the Des Moines Area. We do not ship dogs, and adopters must be committed to meeting her in her foster area.
