Ferka is a beautiful Chihuahua, approximately 4 years old and weighing about 9 lbs. She's a small girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Ferka was found outside a school and then located inside a church, comfortable among people and playing happily with other dogs. This sweet, social spirit is who Ferka is. She is crate trained and rides calmly in the car. Ferka gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, and she is very sociable even with strangers. She is affectionate, playful, and loves giving kisses. She truly enjoys human attention and being part of the action.
Ideal Home
Ferka can be a little too playful with other dogs, and her high energy sometimes overwhelms them, potentially leading to corrections. She would do best with tolerant, playful dogs or with proper supervision. She cannot live with cats, as she tends to chase them. Ferka needs a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. An ideal adopter will have a genuine intention to rescue a dog, an open conscience about street animals and their need for protection and education, and experience in dog behavior and training (or willingness to hire a trainer). High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are also essential.
Ongoing Health
Ferka has been spayed/neutered and received DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, and deworming. She is microchipped and tested negative for heartworm. She receives monthly preventative protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccine booklet are available.
Training & Support
Ferka is not house-trained. Adopters should understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past trauma and may have fears or anxieties. Patience, a safe and loving environment, and establishing a routine are crucial for building trust and a strong bond.

- If it's a match, we'll call or video chat, introduce you to the pet, and conduct a virtual home tour.
- We'll speak with 1-2 of your references.
- If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
Transporation
Ferka is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our cross-country trip. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. Our transport company organizes 3-4 trips per year, bringing pets from Mexico to your home. You will receive real-time updates via a private Facebook Messenger group, including photos, videos, and an estimated time of arrival. The transport team will conduct a final home review upon delivery.
