Ryker

Ryker is a handsome Husky/Shepherd mix with striking blue eyes and a beautiful bushy coat. He weighs about 45 pounds and is a smart and loyal companion. Ryker knows how to sit and shake a paw, and he's also great on a leash. His loyalty is a wonderful trait, though it can make him a bit protective of his people, especially around strangers. This was the reason for his previous return, but we believe with the right guidance, he'll be a perfect addition to a loving home. He gets along well with many of the dogs at the rescue.

Ideal Home

Ryker would do best in a home with a strong, experienced handler, ideally someone who has had a Shepherd before. He needs a leader who can provide clear direction and control, so he doesn't feel the need to be the protector. He would be an excellent companion for a family with children 8 years and older, and he'd be especially happy with a family whose husband travels, as he'd be a devoted guardian while they're away. He's also a fantastic partner for an outdoorsy person looking for an adventure buddy. His thick coat makes him ideal for cooler climates.

Ryker is vaccinated, neutered, and healthy.

Training & Support

Ryker can be protective of his people, which was a concern in his previous home. He needs a confident and consistent leader to help him feel secure and understand his role. His leash manners are excellent, making him a great companion for walks and outdoor activities.

Transportation

Ryker is located in Texas and is available for local adoption. We can also arrange transport to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont, and along the entire East Coast for an additional $200.
