About Mylo
Meet Mylo – a 4-year-old, neutered, 44-pound Cattle Dog mix with a tongue that just can’t be tamed and a heart that’s even bigger. Mylo is a truly original character, a one-part goofball, one-part model, and 100% original. His tongue is a little too long for his mouth, giving him a permanent "perma-blep" which is a veterinary-confirmed quirk and doesn't cause him pain, though he does appreciate extra hydration. He also has a slight protruding bone at the base of his rib cage, another unique feature that's nothing to worry about. Mylo is affectionate, silly, and curious, with that classic Cattle Dog energy that thrives on activity, long walks, and yard romps. He's great with other dogs, no matter their size, and is vocal when playing, a charming trait that's just his way of communicating excitement. While friendly on walks, he can sound intense initially. Mylo has a history of showing interest in chasing cats, so a feline-free home is recommended. He does well with children of various ages but due to his enthusiasm and occasional jumping, a home with older children (10+) who are steady and understand active dogs is ideal. Mylo is a smart, responsive boy who loves praise and routine, though he may sometimes flinch at quick movements. He thrives with clear communication and patience as he settles into a new environment.
Ideal Home
Mylo would thrive in a moderately active home with a yard or access to one for play and exploration. He needs a family who will provide daily walks or fetch sessions to burn his energy, lots of love, belly rubs, and attention. His ideal family will embrace his unique personality and continue positive reinforcement for basic manners like jumping and treat-taking. A home with older children (10+) and potentially one or two friendly dog companions would be a great fit.
Ongoing Health
Mylo has a slightly longer tongue than average, which requires occasional extra hydration, and a slight protruding bone at the base of his rib cage. Both are confirmed by a veterinarian as non-concerning quirks.
Training & Support
Mylo is house-trained and does well unsupervised for periods. He can pull on the leash when excited, so a no-pull harness or Gentle Leader may be beneficial. While he hasn't been crated, he's accustomed to freedom and would likely do best in a home where someone is around more often or has a flexible schedule. He is responsive to redirection and praise but may occasionally flinch at quick movements or new objects, so a patient home that allows him to settle in at his own pace is important. He prefers to eat his snacks and treats separately from other dogs.
