Sahara Sweetie Pie

If happiness had four legs, giant ears, and a toy permanently in its mouth... it would be Sahara.

Meet Sahara, an adorable 6-month-old Chihuahua/Heeler mix (our best guess!) with the biggest ears, the happiest smile, and enough personality to brighten every room she walks into. Her warm caramel-and-white coat, speckled little legs, and constantly wagging tail make her just as cute on the outside as she is on the inside.

Sahara is the definition of a fun-loving puppy. If it squeaks, bounces, rolls, or can be tugged on, shes all in! She absolutely loves her toys and could spend hours happily entertaining herself, though she would be even happier if you joined in for a game of fetch or tug. Shell even play with cat toys if given the chance! Shes always ready for the next adventure and approaches life with endless enthusiasm.

Shes also a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being around her people. Sahara is generous with kisses and loves soaking up attention, though shes still learning that not everyone wants an enthusiastic puppy greeting! She can get excited and jump up to say hello, but shes a smart, treat-motivated girl who is already learning her manners and will thrive with continued positive training.

Sahara enjoys going on walks and does well on leash, though she can pull a bit when shes excited to explore. Like any young puppy, shes still learning about the world. Around other dogs, shes playful but can be a little rambunctious and is still working on her doggy manners and boundaries. With patient guidance and continued socialization, shes sure to keep growing into a wonderful canine companion.

She has not been tested with cats or children just yet, but we'd be happy to help determine if she'd be a good fit for your family.

Ideal Home

Sahara would love an active family ready to embrace all the fun that comes with puppyhood. Whether you are tossing toys in the backyard, heading out on walks, or curling up after a busy day, she'll be right there with her signature happy grin and joyful spirit.

Ongoing Health

Sahara has no known ongoing health conditions at this time. All vetting is up to date, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable. She has also had a heartworm test.

Training & Support

Sahara can get excited and jump up to say hello, but she's a smart, treat-motivated girl who is already learning her manners and will thrive with continued positive training. Around other dogs, she's playful but can be a little rambunctious and is still working on her doggy manners and boundaries. With patient guidance and continued socialization, she's sure to keep growing into a wonderful canine companion. Our trainers have assessed Sahara and work on her behavior modification, including crate training, potty training, and leash walking.

Transporation

Sahara is currently in Texas and can be transported to various drop-off locations nationwide, including WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. For Canadian adopters, pick-up is available in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
