Rye Sweet as Pie Loves Everyone Dog Labrador Retriever

Rye is a 2-year-old, 56 lb bundle of sunshine and happiness, with a smile that could brighten any day. He's a goofy Labrador Retriever mix, possibly with some Rhodesian Ridgeback in his lineage, though this is not guaranteed. Rye is a lover boy, a goofball, and an adventure buddy all rolled into one! He greets everyone with enthusiastic joy and a desire to be best friends. While he can be a bit jumpy when excited, this is a remnant of his puppy days, and he's already learning that sitting earns more praise. With a little polishing, Rye will be a well-mannered show-off!

Ideal Home

Rye would thrive in a home that enjoys playtime, walks, and some structure. While he could do well in an apartment with plenty of exercise and enrichment, a house with a yard would be his dream come true. He needs guidance to learn how to contain his excitement around smaller children.

Ongoing Health

Rye is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes DAPP with a booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative. He has also been tested for heartworm.

Training & Support

Rye is eager to please and learns quickly. He is working on his leash skills, as he can be a bit all over the place when walking, but he listens well to corrections and loves treats, making training a rewarding experience. His ability to sit for praise is a great indicator of his trainability.

Rye is located in Texas. Transport is available nationwide through our rescue-run USDA-certified transport system. Drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (with pick-up options in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
