About Lucy

Meet Lucy, a sweet Shi tzu Maltese mix who is ready to find her forever family! Lucy came to us in an extremely emaciated condition, suggesting she spent much of her early life in a crate and missed out on a normal puppyhood. Despite her rough start, Lucy is incredibly affectionate and loves being close to her people, happily spending time on laps. She enjoys playing with toys and going for walks.

Ideal Home

A securely fenced yard is required. A home where someone is present most of the time is ideal due to her separation anxiety. Another playful dog in the home is preferred to help her with energy and social learning. No cats, as she is not suited to living with them.

Ongoing Health

Lucy is recovering from an emaciated condition and has specific needs for continued care.

Training & Support

Lucy is still learning crate training and housebreaking. She will chew almost anything within reach, including furniture, if left unsupervised or under-stimulated, so consistent exercise and mental stimulation are crucial. She can become very excited and bark uncontrollably when seeing other dogs until she is allowed to meet them; this is being actively managed but will require continued training. An adopter committed to providing consistent structure and patience to continue her training is essential.
